We've pulled together some of the most common questions that bob up from time to time. Be sure to review these in preparation of your fishing charter or harbor cruise with Full Circle Fishing Charters. Don’t see your question listed below? Shoot us an email at fishon@fullcirclefishingcharters.com.

  • We offer fishing charters, harbor cruises, boat concierge services, freelance captain and mate services, as well as tournament-for-hire services.

  • Depending on the season and the type of charter, you could catch Red Drum, Spotted Sea Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Cobia, and various shark species and more. For full-day offshore charters, we may target:

Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi): Known for their vibrant colors and acrobatic leaps, Mahi Mahi is an exciting catch.

Wahoo: Wahoo are prized for their speed and strength, making them a challenging and rewarding catch.

Tuna (Yellowfin, Blackfin): Several species of tuna are found offshore of Charleston, and all put up a good fight.

Marlin (Blue, White): Catching a marlin is a thrill for any angler due to their size and the fight they put up.

Sailfish: Known for their large dorsal fin or "sail," sailfish are fast and acrobatic fighters.

King Mackerel: These larger mackerel species are a common offshore target.

Grouper: Various species of grouper can be found in deeper waters offshore.

Snapper (Red, Vermilion): Snapper are popular targets for their size and delicious flavor.

Amberjack: These strong fighters are known for their tenacity and are often found around offshore wrecks and structures.

Sharks: Various species of sharks can also be caught during offshore trips.

It is important to remember that the availability of these species can vary based on the season, water temperature, and other factors.

  • Parking at St. John’s Yacht Harbor can be limited so if possible Uber or ride together to minimize the number of cars. Parking is available to the right of the marina. Look for the signs for Carolina Girl and park on that side. We will meet you there and ensure you have a parking pass.

  • Charleston offers great fishing year-round, but specific species may be more abundant during certain seasons. Your captain will give you a call after you book to discuss your fishing desires.

  • Usually, clients should bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), weather-appropriate clothing, food and beverages (water is provided), and a cooler to take home any fish you catch and decide to keep. We ask that you bring a refillable water bottle. We will have water on board.

  • Not at all. Our crew will accommodate all levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned anglers. We will provide professional guidance to ensure an awesome time on the water.

  • All fishing and safety gear is provided. Full Circle Fishing Charters uses Penn rods and Shimano reels.

  • All Full Circle vessels are U.S. Coast Guard certified and equipped with safety equipment including life vests, first aid kits and emergency communication devices.

  • Based on our license, size of the boat and U.S. Coast Guard requirements, we are able to accommodate up to six (6) guests on the boat.

  • Man, if we could control the weather, we certainly would. Unfortunately, we can’t, therefore sometimes we have to cancel trips due to weather or marine conditions. Keep in mind the sun can be out, but if the seas are rough, we will not go. The safety of our guests is our top priority. The captain has the final say on whether the charter will go or not. In the event of cancellation due to weather, we will try to reschedule or provide a full refund. You will receive a personal call from the captain to discuss your options.

  • No, the charter boat's license typically covers all passengers for fishing.

  • Catch and release is usually encouraged, but you can often keep your catch within state and federal regulations.

  • Yes, you can bring your own food and drinks. Just no bananas.

  • At Full Circle Fishing Charters, we pride ourselves on creating memorable and enjoyable experiences for all of our guests. While we welcome children aboard and love nurturing young anglers, we believe it's important to consider the unique demands and duration of a charter trip.

These trips typically last several hours, often in open waters, and may require considerable patience and physical effort. Young children, particularly those under five, may find the duration, the potential for rough waters, and the necessary safety precautions challenging.

Our top priority is ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all our guests. Due to these considerations, while we wholeheartedly welcome families, we typically advise that our trips may not be suitable for children under five years old. We're more than happy to discuss individual circumstances and make accommodations where possible, always prioritizing safety and comfort for all aboard.

Our aim is to provide the best possible fishing experience, one that's filled with fun, excitement, and memorable moments for every member of your family. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you aboard.
